Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Dale slays Goliaths in Oceania Middle champs

Dale Wallace has won the Oceania Middle Distance champs in New Zealand.

Dale, from the Western Plains club in Dubbo, finished the 4-day carnival in style with a 27-second victory in the M55AS class, with SHOO's Garry Stewart adding further glory with a third placing.

The terrain was a change from the weekend pine forest - limestone and tomos, but still muddy underfoot (as evidenced by Gayle Quantock from Newcastle, pictured).

ONSW athletes to win medals on Monday were:

1st place: M35AS Damian Enderby (Newcastle), M55AS Dale Wallace (Western Plains)

2nd place: M14 Alvin Craig (NC), M55A Greg Barbour (Big Foot), W35AS Saacha Donaldson (BF), W45A Jenny Enderby (NC), W70A Jenny Hawkins (Northern Tablelands)

3rd place: M21AS Jose Zapata (Central Coast), M45A Stephen Craig (NC), M55AS Garry Stewart (SHOO), M65A Bruce Meder (Bush n Beach), W45AS Elaine Bennett (NC), W60A Debbie Davey (Waggaroos)

Results, Winsplits and Routegadget are here.

We thank the NZ organisers for dealing with the aftermath of a massive weather event in good spirits. Many visitors are staying on for the two Middle Earth events midweek.
