Embargoed Area for 2014

Rylstone Common Embargo

ONSW has announced a further embargo on the areas to be used for the Australian 3-Days during Easter. The new area is what is known as Rylstone Common. The area bounded by the Cudgegong River to the west, Carwell St and Cudgegong Road to the east, the Golf Course in the north and  as far south as the intersection of Cudgegong Rd and Quarry Rd. This area is to be embargoed 3rd October 2013 until 18th April, 2014. Orienteers shall not enter the embargoed area without permission from the ONSW Carnival Organisers.

Clandulla and Dungeree State Forest

ONSW has announced an embargo on the areas to be used for the Australian 3-Days during Easter, 2014, and associated Carnival events. The entire area of Clandulla State Forest, Dungeree State Forest, and mapped areas of adjacent private properties, Lithgow TAFE/Lithgow High School, and Gardens of Stone National Park east of the Castlereagh Highway at Ben Bullen are embargoed from 19th June 2012 until 26th April, 2014. Orienteers shall not enter the embargoed area without permission from the ONSW Carnival Organisers.

Copies of previous maps of the areas that will be covered by many of the competitions during the Carnival in the Clandulla area are available for viewing and/or downloading on the Carnival website.

Intending competitors should note the following clauses from the Orienteering Australia competition rules:

Rule 14.3 The competition terrain shall be embargoed as soon as it is decided.

Rule 15.7 On the day of the competition, the use of any map of the competition area by competitors or team officials is prohibited until permitted by the organiser.

This means that you are not to bring copies of any old maps that cover the competition area to a carnival event on the day of that competition.
