The NSW Wildfire Orienteers are a group of primary school and younger aged orienteers.

The group attend State League events.  Any orienteers of this age are welcome to participate.  There is no minimum standard just a desire to meet other kids and have fun at orienteering!

The juniors enjoy plenty of unstructured play time, in the bush, building 'bases', playing imaginary games and generally just hanging out with friends.  There are also occasional structured activities and social opportunities plus easy, very easy and string courses to tackle at events.

Space Racing is school holiday orienteering especially for 8- to 14-year-olds!

If you love maps and exploring you’ll love Space Racing. No experience is necessary and all fitness levels are welcome. It's a bit of exercise, a bit of geography, a bit of The Amazing Race... and a LOT OF FUN !

Events in 2019 are:

Tue Oct 8 - Sydney Olympic Park (Bicentennial Park) Results

Tue Apr 16 - Sydney Olympic Park (Bicentennial Park) Results

How does Space Racing Work?

Space Racers have 45 minutes to visit as many Space Stations as possible. However, they need to plan ahead and manage their time carefully.

All Space Racers are given a map indicating the location of Space Stations and in small teams they need to work together to locate them. Space Racers generally cover anywhere from 2-4km at an event. The distance and speed are set by the team and can be as relaxed or intense as they want. Free introductory coaching is always available from ONSW coaches.

A visit to each space station earns points but for every minute late, points are deducted.

Mum, dads, brothers, sisters and friends are all welcome to tag along or even take on the challenge themselves. You only pay for the child(ren) participating. If you cannot participate with your child, an ONSW coach can shadow them around the course for safety and to enhance the experience.
