As a Member State of Orienteering Australia Limited (OA), Orienteering NSW (ONSW) is bound by OA policies including those developed under the National Integrity Framework (NIF). A summary of the adoption of the OA NIF policies by ONSW is set out below. Member Protection Policy (MPP)

Orienteering NSW (ONSW) is committed to ensuring that everyone involved with orienteering is treated with respect and dignity and is protected from abuse, bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct, discrimination, victimisation, and vilification. ONSW adopts the Orienteering Australia (OA) Member Protection Policy, which can be found here.

Competition Manipulation and Sports Wagering Policy (CMSWP)

Orienteering NSW (ONSW) is committed to protecting the integrity of orienteering through the prevention, detection, and enforcement of rules relating to manipulation of orienteering competition, thereby providing a fair playing field for all competitors. ONSW adopts the Orienteering Australia Competition Manipulation and Sport Wagering Policy, which can be found here. 

In Australia, manipulation of sporting competitions can result in a long ban from sport, a criminal conviction, and/or up to ten years in jail. More information can be found on the Sport Integrity Australia website.

Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy (CDDP)

Orienteering NSW (ONSW) is committed to ensuring all allegations of prohibited conduct are managed through an effective, consistent, and timely process, which is fair and transparent.

Our Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy (ONSW Manual 1.14) outlines the process for resolving complaints arising from ONSW members that relate to matters at a state level.

ONSW is also governed by the Orienteering Australia Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy, whereby complaints can be escalated or referred between the organisations as deemed necessary.

Anti-Doping Policy

Orienteering NSW (ONSW) is committed to ensuring orienteering is a clean and safe sport. ONSW provides consistency and uniform expectations by adopting the Orienteering Australia Anti-Doping Policy, which is also the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy administered by Sports Integrity Australia. This policy governs all athletes competing at a national level and can be found here.

Athletes competing internationally are governed by the IOF Anti-Doping Policy, which can be found here.

Safeguarding Children and Young People

Orienteering NSW (ONSW) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Children and Young People in orienteering by providing a safe and inclusive environment and by ensuring that everyone involved in orienteering is aware of their rights and responsibilities in relation to Children and Young People.  

All our members and participants have an obligation to protect and maintain the integrity of our sport, as well as the health and well-being of all people who participate. ONSW has a zero-tolerance policy to harm, abuse and/or neglect of a Child or Young Person in any form.  All Children and Young People have the right to feel safe and protected from all forms of abuse, harm, and neglect, and have the right to take part in sport in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment.

ONSW is committed to addressing the NSW Government’s Child Safe Standards.

Our ONSW Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy (ONSW Manual 1.10) outlines requirements specific to NSW and the underpinning ONSW processes.

All adults working with children are expected to record their NSW Working With Children Check with the ONSW Development Officer Coordinator.
