Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Central Coast Summer Series winners crowned

Congratulations to Melissa Robertson and Mark Schaefer for taking out the Central Coast Summer Series, which had record attendances.

It was encouraging to see so many Sydney and Newcastle faces at these events.

Ivan Kent set a long, flat and fast course for Sunday's 10th and final event at Woy Woy, with lots of controls in close and some big distances between the ones down south.

Each person's best six scores counted, and in the final wash-up these people came out on top:

Women: 1st Melissa Robertson 600, 2nd Hilary Wood 554, 3rd Claire Joss 475
Men: 1st Mark Schaefer 560, 2nd John Bulman (GO) 547, 3rd Steven Roberts (NC) 534

CC also run a handicap competition in conjunction based on how much you improve over the series. Placings went to:

Women: 1st Elizabeth Bunn 624, 2nd Elizabeth Bulman (GO) 610, 3rd Suzanne Bramford 607
Men: 1st Trent Jones 675, 2nd Rudi Landsiedel (NC) 663, 3rd Justin Goodwin 659

Thanks to all the setters, organisers and other helpers. Don't forget the O'Shea 2-Days near Kincumber on March 2-3.
