Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Bennelong bound ahead in Division 1

Newly promoted Bennelong have continued their unbeaten run in Division 1 of the MetrO League with an easy win over a severely depleted WHO at Nurragingy in round 3 on Sunday.

Hosts and defending champions Big Foot downed a similarly under-strength Garingal to record their first win of the season.

Nurragingy is a western Sydney parkland that is entirely flat and very fast running, hence we had some crazily quick times in all divisions - the very fast KNOX boys (some with sub-20 minute times!) enjoyed big wins to sit atop Divisions 3 and 5.

The GO Frill Necks are the only unbeaten team in a tight Division 2, while Division 4 looks like being a contest between Big Foot and the GO Monitors.

Thankfully the predicted rain held off and it was a lovely morning. It was great to see three of our NSW schools team rookies - Cameron Will, Oliver Freeman and Cooper Horley scoring highly in Division 2.

Thanks to Big Foot, especially setter Miles Ellis who did most of the workload and gave us a neat history lesson in his briefing.

You can find all the results on the ML web page, including the individual points tallies. A reminder that our next event is this Sunday with the rescheduled Round 1 at Boronia Park.
