Sydney Sprint series starts on Sunday
- Last Updated: Tuesday, 22 January 2019 11:54
The annual Sydney Sprint Series begins at Gladesville Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
To cater for more abilities, each event will now offer 3 courses (distance is via shortest route):
* Hard (3.5-4km)
* Moderate (2.5-3km)
* Easy (2km and almost all off-road, hence suitable for kids).
The start window is 5-6pm.
If you are anywhere near Orange on Saturday, our Goldseekers club is putting on their annual Australia Day maze course - at 10am at Cook Park.
All participants are asked to be mindful of the special out-of-bounds areas on sprint maps (see the table on the right). You are not allowed to cross those features.
Bulletin 1 for NSW MTBO Champs
- Last Updated: Monday, 21 January 2019 13:15
Our Newcastle organisers have released Bulletin 1 for the 2019 NSW Mountain Bike Orienteering champs on April 6-7.
These are the first state champs of 2019 for MTBO and will double as the Australian selection trials for the world champs and junior world champs (being held in Denmark from July 28 to August 3).
The NSW Champs will revisit the Holmesville area, much of which was updated for the Port to Port MTB endurance event.
It will also be Round 1 of the MTBO National League, and includes Recreational and e-bike categories.
Entries will open soon - camping is available at Sugarloaf Pony Club opposite the event assembly area, Kevin Evans Oval.
Junior squad camp Feb 1-3 at Tocal
- Last Updated: Friday, 18 January 2019 18:01
Our next junior squad camp will be at Tocal College in the Hunter Valley from February 1-3.
We'd normally have a camp in the April school holidays to coincide with a State League weekend - but this year's Easter carnival and a couple of the Australian championships are in WA at that time.
The program is on Eventor - more details will be posted soon.
The camp starts at 5pm on the Friday and finishes on the Sunday.
Level 0 coaching courses

Level 0 is for people coaching newcomers / children, and will include how to use Purple Pen to set courses. For people wishing to coach in the Sporting Schools program, it will include the OK-GO kit.
See the flyer for full details.
We will also be running a Level 0 course early in Term 1 immediately after an SOS event. Date and venue TBC.
Please email Jim Mackay (development @ onsw.asn.au) if you are interested in either session. They are free for orienteering club members.
