This year's ONSW annual awards day will be held on Saturday November 10 at the Waverton North Sydney Club, immediately after the SOS event there that morning.
All participants are invited to stay on after the run. The club has a brasserie for those wishing to have lunch, and you can book a lane for lawn bowls.

Clubs are asked to return perpetual trophies ASAP, and to submit 2018 nominations to the board by October 10.
Nominations for wombies - for hilarious mistakes and comedic misadventure - should be emailed to Ian Jessup.
SSS season tickets now available

The Sydney Summer Series is only a month away and season tickets for 2018-19 are now available at up to 33% off normal member prices!
No more rummaging around for loose change and a Henry, Banjo or Mary to get your weekly daylight saving O fix. This is your golden ticket for summer.
Buy it in Eventor (it's a Nov 21 'event' as that's when the offer expires).
Member prices are: Senior $212, Junior $144 and Family $568.
Non-member pricing is unchanged ($15 + SI stick hire if needed) - so if you love the SSS, join a club and save loads!
Early bird membership - for those who are new to orienteering, or have let their membership lapse, or usually only do the SSS - is also open. You'll need to join up for the rest of 2018 (free), and for 2019, before being able to buy the SSS season ticket.
Entries open for last 2018 SL weekend

Newcastle will host our final State League weekend for 2018 on September 22-23, and entries are now open.
The program has only just been finalised after permission was withdrawn at late notice for the Sunday event at Barraba Lane. We'll now be on the Southams Road map at Kitchener instead.
Saturday is on the updated Mt Sugarloaf map.
Our OY point scores have also been updated following the recent weekend in Orange. Along with the battle for personal honours, the Interclub trophy is going right down to the wire. Our two biggest clubs, Newcastle and Garingal, dominate this and the Sydneysiders have a slender 14-point lead. With the last two events on home soil, Newcastle are favoured to retain the trophy.
All up, it promises to be a great finish for the bush season. Entries close on September 16. Limited enter on day will be available.
Greenwich, KNOX retain NSW schools champs titles

It was a case of deja vu at our annual NSW schools champs in western Sydney at the weekend, as Greenwich PS (Primary), KNOX Grammar (Secondary) and CIS (region, pictured) retained the trophies won in Wollongong a year ago.
On Saturday, Garingal put on two demanding sprints at Hills Grammar and Cherrybrook Tech High School. The irregular shapes and angles of the buildings made navigation trickier than it looked, and the warm day sapped energy levels.

Sunday morning was much cooler as WHO hosted us on the flat bushland of Wianamatta Regional Park. The grid of roads and tracks in the former defence land offered navigational security for beginners and more challenging cross-country options for the tougher courses.

It was fantastic to see students from more than 50 schools in attendance. This reflects the tireless work by our network of coaches in the Sporting Schools program and at the various regional schools championships.
And it was great to see students who had travelled from as far as Grafton and Wagga to compete.
A big thank you to the organising clubs, setters, organiser and controllers; and Lyn Malmgron and her team of helpers who ensured the students got underway confidently at each event.
