Orienteering NSW, now known as ONSW, was established in 1972 following the first orienteering events in NSW in 1971. It was incorporated (Y0104618) on 19th October 1987 and later registered for an ABN (45 062 472 184).
ONSW is a not for profit organisation which oversees and promotes the sport of orienteering within NSW. The Association is affiliated with Orienteering Australia Inc which is in turn affiliated with the International Orienteering Federation. There are 14 orienteering clubs across NSW that are affiliated with ONSW, and all financial members of affiliated clubs are members of ONSW.
ONSW 2022 Strategy with 2023 Updates
The Association derives its income from membership fees, event fees, and government grants.
We are especially appreciative of the ongoing support of:
- Australian Sports Commission or now branded as Sport Australia;
- NSW Office of Communities, Sport and Recreation; and
- Sport NSW.
The Association is governed by a Board of Directors elected from members of the affiliated clubs at its Annual General Meeting, held usually in March of each year. The Board holds regular meetings on a monthly basis to determine policy matters, schedule events, and generally govern the administration of the Association.

In addition there are several development officers and plenty of coaches who work on a casual basis as required. Anyone can submit News items for the Home page of this website. Use the "Register" link on the home page to register. Once you have registered, you can log in to the site and add news items using the "Add Item" link. Email the OANSW office to let us know you have submitted a News item and it will be approved ASAP.
Lost passwords can be retrieved using the link near the login box on the home page. If you have forgotten your Username, contact the OANSW office.
NSW clubs who use SocialFX can automatically add News items and Event Details from their own sites to the OANSW site. Just add the tag "OANSW" and under "Syndication" choose "any site". To include your article in the Junior News page, add the tag "Junior" and to include it in the Schools News page, add the tag "Schools". Clubs are encouraged to use SocialFX and this capability wherever possible to avoid manually re-posting the same information on different websites.
