Georgia Jones (Uringa) was the best-performed NSW athlete at the Australian schools champs at Maroon on Wednesday with a fourth placing in the senior girls division.
Newcastle's Claire Burgess also had a great run to be among the top ten Australian finishers.
Alastair George (Big Foot) was the fifth Australian and Duncan Currie (Garingal) sixth in encouraging performances in the senior boys class.
It was a similar story in the junior boys with Ewan Shingler (BF) and primary schooler Alvin Craig (NC) the fifth and sixth best Australians.
With temps in the high 20s - and steep, rocky terrain - the going was tough for everyone. Our junior girls were giving away several years in age and experience, so the top-15 results for Ellen Currie (Garingal) and Sophie Jones (UR) are promising for next year on home soil.
In the public races, Tony Woolford (Bush n Beach) was fifth on course A, Rebecca George (BF) ninth on Course B, Gordon Wilson (Bennelong Northside) sixth on course C, Rudi Landsiedel (NC) second on course D, Ross Barr (GO) ninth on course E, and Jamie Woolford (BB) fifth on course G.
The schools champs conclude on Thursday with the relays.
