Schofields PS has won the Sydney West primary schools champs for the first time.
Fred Caterson Reserve in Castle Hill is the venue for these champs: a superb area with bushland surrounding the ovals. The tracks, termite mounds and a chance to have a little bush bash ensured big smiles all day. Some kids did not know what an 'ant hill' was. They do now!
First-timers Bilpin PS took out day one on Wednesday, but Schofields' points tally on Thursday was higher.
These regional champs start with a map walk with a coach to learn the ropes. Then follows an age race and a 3-person relay with a mass start that is so much fun to watch.
A huge thank you to Barbara Hill and her big team of helpers, and to Rebecca the co-ordinating teacher.
We love to hear kids - and teachers - say: "We're definitely coming back next year!"
