Hilary Wood used the intricacies of the Ourimbah campus to challenge racers with multi-level courses which saw runners up and down stairs, across bridges and dodging into alleyways around the campus. Some of the controls being positioned under cover in small corridors required pinpoint accuracy at speed, which is the hallmark of a good sprint course. With up to 27 controls on the longest course of 2.8km competitors needed to keep a cool head and many competitors were caught out overshooting, or mis-punching as their legs got the better of their brains.
