While considered by many as easier orienteering than the granite from the day before, there were still mistakes to be made for the unwary.
Day 3's event at Sawmill Creek was welcome relief for many competitors, with a return to gully spur navigation, but some competitors still found problems in the mostly runnable terrain, and especially on the long legs.

In the Mens A competition it was a repeat of Day 2 with Julian Dent finishing in front of Sweden's Mats Troeng, and NSW's Josh Blatchford coming in third, while in the Womens A course Sweden's Johana Oberg recorded her second victory ahead of ACT's Jo Allison and NSW's Tracy Marsh. In Mens B, which is the same course as that for Womens A competition, it was a win for QLD's Tim Mcintyre from Tim Rogers and fellow club member Brenton Gray coming in third. In the Womens B competition first and second places were taken by World Masters Champions Jenny Bourne and Sue Yan Tay, with only 12 seconds separating the pair.In the Mens C course QLD's Oliver Crosato was again too strong winning in 39.35, ahead of NSW's Angus Roberts and Mark Shingler. In the Womens C competition Jacquie Rand led the field home in 44.51 with fellow Queenslander Linda Burridge coming in second. Sweden's Julia Davidsson finished third. In the Mens D competition there was success for Victoria's Tim Dent, ahead of ACT pair Bob Allison and Hugh Moore.
In the Womens D competition QLD's Glennie Nottie was too strong for NSW pair Lyn Dabbs and Val Hodson, while in the Mens E race NSW's John Hodson just edged out NSW's Kevin Williams for first place.
In the Womens E competition QLD's Heather Burridge came home first ahead of Jessica Hoey and NSW's Georgia Jones.
In the Junior M/WN competition less than three minutes separated the first four runners with NSW's Jared McKenna outsprinting QLD's Patrick Cantwell, with NSW's Ewan Shingler coming in third.
