Association members turned out in force last Saturday evening for the Annual Presentation Awards evening and to say thank you to OANSW's Executive Officer Dave Lotty who retires at the end of the year.
There was a full house at the North Ryde RSL for the Association's 2010 Awards night, an occassion that was also used to recognise Dave Lotty's significant contribution to the Association since 1973 when he first became secretary to the fledgling Association, and to publicly thank him for the many years of service he has given to OANSW and to OA. The night was made even more memorable by the attendance of other founding members Rod Dominish, Ross and Toy Martin, and Brian Wright.
To recognise his services to the Association Dave was awarded a Life Membership, which will entitle him to entry to each of the NSW's Championship events. In a "This is Your Life" moment, Dave was also presented with a photo-history of his time in Orienteering, which also included some of his history as a track athlete, prior to taking up Orienteering in November 1971.
In the Annual Awards, the Course Setter of the Year was awarded to Central Coast's Nick Dent for his SL2 courses on the World Masters Clandulla area, while the President's Award was made to Karen and Russell Blatchford for their significant contribution as Junior Squad and Schools Team Managers for a fourth successive year.
More pictures and a complete record of all award winners will be included in the next edition of the Association newsletter.
