We are launching orienteering into the Coffs Harbour region this weekend (Oct 18-20) with three free taster events. Download the flyer for more info.
The exercise will be repeated the following weekend (Oct 25-27) as we continue to expand our reach and hopefully establish a club in one of NSW's largest regional centres.
The events will be the usual summer series format (visit as many controls as you can in 45 minutes). Bruce Meder (0426 876 316) is the local contact and these tasters follow on from his Wheel O event in late June.
The program is:
Fri Oct 18: Botanic Gardens, Coff St. Starts 3-6pm.
Sat Oct 19: Coffs Harbour Foreshore, Jordan Esplanade/Marina Drive. Starts 3-5pm.
Sun Oct 20: Woolgoolga. Lakeside Reserve, Lake Rd. Starts 9.30-11.30am.
Fri Oct 25: Sportz Central. Bray St. Starts 3-6pm.
Sat Oct 26: Coffs Harbour Education Campus. Hogbin Dr. Starts 3-5pm.
Sun Oct 27: Wonga Park, Sawtell. Third/Fourth Ave. Starts 9.30-11.30am.
Our foray into Coffs Harbour follows our successful venture in the Lismore/Ballina region a year ago which led to the establishment of our newest club, Northern Rivers (NROC).
If you are in the Coffs area during our promotional tour, please drop in and help spread the word to the locals that orienteering is a sport for everyone.
While we're on a north coast theme, NROC will be conducting in Grafton monthly Friday evening 45-minute score events over summer. Dates are Oct 25, Nov 8, Dec 13, Jan 10, Feb 14, Mar 14. Details are on the NROC site. Thanks to NTOC's Maurice Anker for producing the map and NROC's Gavin Rayward for organising these events.
