Dates - 24th - 27th January 2025 (Oceania Champs)

Join us in the summer of 2025 for an unforgettable orienteering adventure through the stunning sand dunes and pines of the Manawatū. Our races will challenge your navigation skills and decision-making across a variety of fast and intricate forest maps.
Oceania 2025 events are designed to provide elite orienteers with ideal training and competition grounds ahead of the World Orienteering Championships in the wilds of Finland later in the year. However, you don’t need to be a seasoned athlete to enjoy your time in the forest—orienteering is an inclusive sport, and Oceania 2025 offers courses tailored to everyone’s skill level. So come and explore these beautiful areas at your own pace, or run your heart out chasing the top spots. We look forward to seeing you and hope you have a great time orienteering with us next January.

Embargoed areas: People intending to compete at the Oceania Orienteering Champs 2025 will need to be aware of the embargoes in place for the event. Embargoes are areas that are out of bounds to competitors prior to the events, and cover the areas being used in the competition. This prevents unfair prior knowledge being gained about the terrain and map features. View the embargo information here

Oceania 2025 events

Friday 24th January 2025 | Massey University Palmerston North | Sprint

Expansive university campus incorporating an adjacent educational research working farm. Clusters of similarly-shaped buildings will test your focus and attention to detail.

Saturday 25th January 2025 | Koitiata, Santoft Forest | Middle distance

Koitiata has not been used for a very long time, we are looking forward to exploring this area of intricate sand dune formations under pine forest with patches of macrocarpa trees.

Sunday 26th January 2025 | Knottingly, Santoft Forest | Long distance

Our mapper describes this mature pine forest on undulating sand dunes as ‘primo’. It has good visibility and minimal undergrowth broken up by a network of forestry access tracks.

Monday 27th January 2025 | Parewanui, Santoft Forest | Relay

A large Manawatū sand dune pine forest map with generally excellent runnability and complex contour detail. There is a network of twisting 4x4 and dirt-bike tracks, mossy corners, and tricky low-visibility blocks to exercise your compass work
