Newcastle are putting on our next weekend of mountain bike orienteering, at Wallaroo State Forest on June 18-19.
Each day will have three course options. Pre-entry is preferred and entries close on Tue Jun 14. Full details including the event flyer are on Eventor.
If you like to get on a bike but haven't tried MTBO, it's even more engaging. If you're a regular Foot-O person, it's a great cross-training activity... and you can't really get lost as you'll be on tracks the whole time!
MTBO is one of a few less-common forms of orienteering this month.
On Wednesday June 15 Garingal are putting on their monthly Moonlight Madness night score event, this time at Waverton. You'll need a headlamp or torch.
And on Saturday June 18 Garingal's popular puzzle pundit Duncan Currie is treating us to an ultra sprint at Leichhardt. This event has 3 short sprints (about 1.3km each) within a 2-hour window. Mispunches incur a 30-second penalty instead of no time being recorded. Lots of fun and great training. Pre-entry is essential.
