Baulkham Hills High School made an emphatic debut at the annual Sydney West schools orienteering championships at Castle Hill on Thursday by taking the title of champion school.
An unbeatable sunny 20-degree day at Fred Caterson Reserve showcased these regional champs in the best possible light and had many of the 389 kids 'badgering' teachers and parents for more info about the NSW Schools champs at Lansdowne in two weeks.
We were also delighted to have been able to put on a course for a 12-year-old girl in a wheelchair. The girl, her aide and teacher were thrilled at the opportunity to participate.
Thanks to our organiser Lyn Malmgron, course setter Graeme Hill, SI guru Ron Pallas and all the volunteers who helped put on an outstanding day.
Results are on our schools champs web page. With the Sydney West day now at capacity, we hope to be able to conduct separate primary and secondary champs next year to continue to grow this event.
