Also, there is a new junior age class for elites: 18E.
This means 18E and 20E are both NOL classes.
If you are an 18E athlete and nominating for JWOC you can run either 18E or 20E. The only difference will be for the Long distance event (Saturday) where the selectors will compare performances across the age classes as they are different length courses. You do not have to run 20E to be considered for JWOC.
The NSW Stingers are delighted to announce that former Swiss junior coach Renate Leuenberger-Widmer will be their coach for 2021.
"Reni" brings incredible qualifications and experience to the role. She has a Masters Degree in Human Movement and Sport and taught science and physical education.
As an orienteering coach, she guided regional teams in her native Switzerland for several years, and coached the Swiss Junior Team for 2 years, during which they won 10 gold medals at the 2016 & 2017 Junior World Championships.
She recently relocated to Australia with her husband, David, and son Nino, and has joined the Bennelong Northside club.
Orienteering NSW is excited to appoint a coach of such calibre, and we're sure her expertise and enthusiasm will be of great benefit to our top level squad.
The Stingers compete in the National Orienteering League. In 2021, NOL rounds are in Victoria (March), NSW (Easter), South Australia (April) and ACT (May).
Waggaroos start their summer series on Sunday morning, offering a score course with a choice of 30 or 45 minutes duration.

SportIdent electronic timing is used and timing sticks can be borrowed at the event.
Controls are visited by answering a circling the answer to a question about each location, eg "50 - the colour of the letterbox at 45 Smith St is yellow / blue".
You may start your run / walk any time between 9-10am.
You can see a map from last summer here.
Waggaroos finished their winter program at Rawlings Park with an informal score course that featured a huge variety in terrain.
One minute participants were sprinting across the lovely flat turf of soccer fields, then splashing through sheets of water left after overnight rain, then running through open woodland, then pushing through shoulder high wild oats, then sliding across the mud on the bush tracks.
