Garingal invite all orienteers to come to a unique day out on Milson Island on the Hawkesbury River, on Saturday January 21.
There will be a social O event conducted by our visiting Finnish orienteer Atte Lahtinen, followed by a swim, hike around the island (on a proper O map!) or tennis. It's BYO everything (inc lunch).
Full details can be found on the Eventor page. Cost is $35 per person inc ferry trip. UPDATE: Entries close this Thursday (Jan 19).
We are pleased to publish the 2017 State League schedule comprising 15 events, including 13 that carry championship status.
It will be a massive year for orienteering in NSW, with both major national carnivals on home turf: the Australian 3-Days over the June long weekend in Wagga and the Australian championships around Bathurst/Hill End in late September.
We are also delighted to announce that the SL season will start with the ACT Sprint and Middle championships in late March. Having this weekend co-sanctioned as State League events will provide a good preparation and incentive for those people travelling to NZ for the Oceania champs and/or World Masters in April.
Mid-may sees the NSW Middle and Long champs in the Macarthur region, while the NSW schools champs are in the Illawarra in August. And we thank Newcastle for offering to stage a SL weekend in July, filling what otherwise would be a 10-week gap.
The final event for 2017 will be the NSW Sprint champs in mid-November, currently pencilled in for what promises to be an awesome new map of PLC Pymble. Stand by for more details of a medical fundraiser and possible ONSW presentation day in conjunction.
Fifteen NSW orienteers from nine clubs have been selected (thus far) to represent Australia at the Oceania championships in New Zealand in April.
A further four athletes have been chosen as reserves for the Australia-NZ Test match as part of this prestigious biennial carnival.

Congratulations to the following members upon their selections:

Calling all juniors - this Thursday (Dec 22) we are having a fun morning at Chatswood with our Finnish scholar Atte Lahtinen.
The venue is Beauchamp Park (park in Darling St) for some coaching fun at 10am, then we're off to see the latest Star Wars movie and grab some lunch or maybe go tenpin bowling.
Please pre-enter so we know how many juniors to expect. Thanks to Barbara Hill and Atte for this initiative.
And if you're anywhere near Coffs Harbour, our club of the year Bush n Beach is having a coaching session on Friday in the dunes at Boambee - where the QB III Middle Distance race was this year.
