'Sprint' is the newest format of our sport. Think of it as the T20 of orienteering. At the elite level it is meant to be fast and furious, where an error of even 10 seconds could mean the difference between first and fourth placings. Courses are short (2-4km), with lots of controls and lots of changes of direction, and held mainly in urban environments (uni campuses, former hospital sites, sporting complexes etc).
The next Sydney Sprint Orienteering Series commences on Sunday, 27th February 2022.
There are 3 events in the program this season.
Courses: Each event has 3 courses (distance is via shortest route):
* Hard (3.5-4km)
* Moderate (2.5-3km)
* Easy (2km and almost all off-road, hence suitable for kids).
Start Times: Between 5-6pm, on Sunday afternoons (course closure 6.30pm).
Entry Fees: Orienteering club members $12 seniors, $8 juniors. Non-members $3 extra. Sportident hire $4 per event.
Maps: 1:4000 or 1:5000. Sportident timing used at all events.
Not held in 2023, hosted the Sydney Sprint Weekend
