5 days of tune-up orienteering events to speed you on your way to success in the Apple Isle.

Run the sights, then see the sights - the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Manly and Bondi beaches, the Blue Mountains, Luna Park, Taronga Zoo and much much more. 

Spend Christmas at the beach and enjoy the world-famous New Year's Eve fireworks.

The following information is preliminary and provided to assist you to make your travel plans.

Entries: pre-entry is strongly recommended as only a limited number of enter-on-day maps will be printed. All pre-entries go into the draw to win some fabulous Sydney experiences (see below) and daily prize draws at the events.

General information bulletin

Day 1 (Sat Dec 27) - a long sprint (winning times of 25 minutes) in the late afternoon at Georges Heights on the lower north shore offering sensational harbour views.

Day 2 (Sun Dec 28) - a morning sprint on Cockatoo Island in the middle of Sydney Harbour. Stay on for a tour of the island's maritime heritage (guided and self-guided options available). You can even camp on the island.

Day 3 (Mon Dec 29) - a 45-minute afternoon score course at Pyrmont on the western fringe of Darling Harbour. (This will also be part of the Sydney Summer Series). SOCIAL EVENT: a 3-hour sailing tour of Sydney Harbour from 10am-1pm, leaving and returning from the National Maritime Musuem (a short walk from the O event assembly). See the flyer for details, and book via Eventor to receive a 20% discount.

Day 4 (Tue Dec 30) - a morning bush event at Lapstone (map = Darks Common) in the lower Blue Mountains, easily accessible by train one hour from Central. Then head on up the mountains for some sightseeing.

Day 5 (Wed Dec 31) - the carnival is capped off with a morning micro sprint (three races of about 1km with some a-maze-ing twists) at a secret location within Centennial Parklands, giving you plenty of time to catch your flight to Tasmania, hit the freeway home or get ready for the 9pm and 12 midnight New Year's Eve fireworks.

The events are scheduled to be easily reached by public transport, avoid the heat and provide you with time to explore the local area.
