Our annual Queen's Birthday June long weekend carnival will in 2016 be held near Coffs Harbour for the first time.
Our Club of the Year Bush n Beach is already well advanced in preparation and promises some warm winter weather, intriguing maps and varied terrain. Rob Vincent (NC) is the event controller.
The dates are Sat Jun 11 (CHEC), Sun Jun 12 (Bom Bom SF), Mon Jun 13 (Boambee Dunes).

Eight NSW orienteers have finished 2015 ranked No.1 in their age groups in Australia, and a further 20 achieved a top 3 status.
Eric Morris (M45, BN), Greg Barbour (M50, BF), Mikayla Enderby (W12, NC), Anna Fitzgerald (W35, GS), Tracy Marsh (W40, BF), Jenny Enderby (W45, NC), Val Hodsdon (W65, SH) and Jenny Hawkins (W70, NT) each finished on top of their classes nationally.
The standings are based on results from the Oceania championships in Tasmania in January, the Easter carnival in South Australia in April, and the Australian championships in Victoria in September-October.
Ten orienteers were ranked second, and another ten ranked third. These are excellent results given none of the three major carnivals were conducted in NSW.

Congratulations to all who travelled far and wide to compete. In 2016 Easter is in the ACT and the Australian championships are in south-east Queensland.
Orienteering NSW is delighted to announce that the Carbine Club of NSW has extended its support of the NSW Schools Orienteering Team.
The Carbine Club is a philanthropic organisation that supports the development of junior sports through sponsorship grants.
The schools team is known as the NSW Carbines in recognition of this support. Funding provided by the Carbine Club helps reduce the costs to team members of competing at the annual Australian Schools Championships.
Since 2001, the Carbine Club has donated more than $50,000 to the NSW junior team. Recently, ONSW was fortunate to again receive a grant of $5,000 for 2015. Whenever we can reduce the costs of training and competition camps we can immediately improve the opportunity for participation of all NSW juniors.
The NSW Carbines and Orienteering NSW greatly thank the Carbine Club for their continued support. A special note of thanks is also extended to Tim for his assistance and support as a member of the Carbine Club.
Rebecca Kennedy (Western Plains) has received a Dubbo Sports Award for her orienteering and a $500 local sports champion grant to assist her to go further in the sport.
Rebecca (pictured) this year took out the W16A class in the State League Orienteer of the Year competition.
For the past three years she has been a member of the NSW All Schools team that competed at the annual Australian championships, which this year were in Ballarat.
Fellow members of the Carbines (the NSW Schools Team) to receive grants were Ellen and Duncan Currie (Garingal) and Ewan Shingler (Big Foot).
The grant helps the athletes cover some of the cost of travel and competition. Congratulations to these orienteers, and another huge thank you to Rebecca's mum Sally who is our junior squad manager and encouraged them to apply.
