2023 NSW State League
State League events are enjoyable, challenging and offer the best orienteering in NSW. The events are open to everyone and have courses designed for beginners right up to experts.
The NSW Orienteer of the Year competition is conducted for each class using the results from State League Events. Where there are up to 10 events, the number of scoring events is the number of events minus 3. Where there are 11, 12, or 13 events the number of scoring events is 7. Where there is 14 or more events the number of scoring events is half the number of events (rounded down to the nearest whole number) plus 1.
Thus in 2023 there will be 15* State League Events and your best 8 results count for the Orienteer of the Year.
*Hard 5 course at SL#14 2023 was cancelled. This affected classes W65AS, W75A, W80A, W85A, M65AS, M80A, and M85A. As a result, these classes only had 14 State League Events in 2023 but their best 8 results still count for the Orienteer of the Year.
Pre-entry is preferred for NSW State League events. Entries normally close two weeks before each event. Enter-on-Day courses usually consist of Very Easy, Easy (both ideal for beginners and children), Moderate and one or two Hard courses.
