The draft programs for ONSW and ACTOA major events are listed below to help you plan your orienteering program for 2016.
ONSW and ACTOA Major Events Programs
2016
January 23 to 26 (Sat to Tue) - 4 day sprint carnival in Canberra concluding on Australia Day
February 27 - Sydney Metrogaine - Lane Cover River (southern section)
March 5/6 - March 5 - ACT sprint championships. March 6 - ACT middle distance championships.
March 12/13 - NOL round 1 in Melbourne on the 12-13 March 2016. Opportunity for local sprint events.
March 19/20 - Saturday March 19th Pre Easter State League event, SL 1 at Wattle Ridge organised by BN.
Sunday March 20 Metro Round 1 hosted by SH at Mt Annan.
March 25 to 28 - Easter 3 Days in the ACT organised by ACTOA
April 2/3 - SL 2 (NSW Middle Championships) and SL 3 (NSW Long Championships) at Snow Hills organised by BF. This weekend is the end of the post-Easter National Training camp.
April 23-25 - ANZAC weekend in South Australia includes the NOL long distance event.
May 1 - Sydney Metro Round 2 (BN) at Manly Dam.
May 14/15 - NSW MTBO Championships near Lithgow (proposed)
May 21/22 - SL 4 and 5. WH will run the Saturday at Mt Piper and GO the Sunday event using the Gardens of Stone (South) map.
May 29 - Sydney Metro League Round 3 (UR) at Botany.
June 5 – ACT Jim Sawkins handicap (venue to be determined) and Great Nosh Trail Run (BN)
June 11/12/13 - QBIII and SL 6, 7 and 8 in the Coffs Harbour/Grafton area to be organised by BnB/ONSW/NT and individuals.
June 26 - Sydney Metro League Round 4 (BF) at Lapstone.
July 31 - Sydney Metro League Round 5 (WH) at Mulgoa.
August 7th - Perisher NSW Ski Orienteering Champs
August 20/21 - August 21 ACT long distance championships at Collector (north of Canberra). August 20/21 is an opportunity to create a joint NSW/ACT weekend.
August 27/28 - SL 9 (NSW Schools Sprint Championships and NSW Sprint Championships) and SL 10 (NSW Schools Championships). Uringa will run both days in the Bankstown area.
September 4 - Sydney Metro League Round 6 (GO) at Galston.
September 10/11 - SL 11 and SL 12. SH will run SL10 as a middle distance event on Saturday September 10th. IK will run SL11 on Sunday September 11th. In the Southern Highlands.
September 24 to October 2 - Australian Championships in Queensland - Gold Coast to Granite Belt.
December 27 to 31 - Xmas 5 Days in the Newcastle area to be organised by NC & include an MTBO event.
