Learn to Orienteer - Port Macquarie

Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Easter 2021 update 2

Entries for our big national Easter carnival close on Sunday March 7 - that's barely three weeks away!

Our hard-working organisers - who have had to cope with 12 months of delays and frustration - have a few more updates for everyone.

Please read carefully...

* Age class
Some people (especially juniors) who entered in 2020 have now moved up an age class but may not have realised it. Please check your entry in Eventor and adjust the age class if needed (juniors must compete in their 2021 age class; adults may choose to stay in their 2020 age class or 2021 if they have moved).

* SI number
Have you recently changed your SI stick or bought a new one (since entering Easter)? If the answer is yes, please check the "punching card number" next to your Easter entry as it may need to be changed. When you change it in your Eventor account it doesn't automatically flow on to events already entered.

* Control descriptions
These will NOT be available at the start. They will be available on Eventor from the week beginning March 22. If you want to have them with you on the course you will need to print them from Eventor. All maps will have control descriptions on them.

* Water
We will NOT be providing any water on the courses or at the finish. You must bring your own water. All walks to the start are less than 1km easy walk from the parking/arena.

* Clothing
The Molong area has had 60mm of rain in the past week which is a welcome change from this time last year. Gaiters or other leg protection are recommended.

* Coffee van
Another piece of news is the wonderful Jespresso coffee van will be in attendance. Just what we need before and/or after a run.
