Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

2021 NSW Schools Team Announced

Students from seven of our NSW Clubs have been named in the NSW 2021 Schools team for the 2021 Australian Championships in Tasmania this September/October.

There are eight new faces in the team this year: Rebecca Craig (Newcastle), Maggie MacKay (Uringa), Lyra Simpson (Big Foot), Savanna Sweeney (Western & Hills) and Lilja Lehtonen (Garingal) all in Junior Girls and in the Juniors Boys Lachlan Coady (Western & Hills), Alex Woolford (Bush n Beach) and Curtis Pepper (Bennelong Northside).

Australian and New Zealand school students will contest the championships organised by Orienteering Tasmania in conjunction with Orienteering Australia. Each Australian State will send a team of up to 20 students competing along with two New Zealand teams of 20 students.

A team of 20 has been selected, the maximum allowed. The strong family element of orienteering is reflected in there being three sets of siblings in the team.

Congratulations to the following students upon their selection:

Junior Girls Junior Boys
Rebecca Craig (NC) Lachlan Coady (WH)
Maggie Mackay (UR) Alex Woolford (BB)
Lyra Simpson (BF) Cooper Horley (GO)

All selected will travel with the team to Tasmania and run in the three schools championship events from September 28-30 (Sprint, Individual and Relay), while also competing in the other major events on both weekends of the carnival.

The team will be travelling with the managers and coaches Jenny Enderby, Damien Enderby and Bjorn Mella.
