Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

SSS Season 31 winners crowned

An eventful Sydney Summer Series has wound up for season 31 with a terrific streetscape of the North Sydney area and a presentation dinner attended by 70 people.

Congratulations to our major award winners:
* SSS Cup - Melissa Thomas (Bennelong, pictured)
* Open Women - Melissa Thomas (Bennelong)
* Open Men - Tristan White (Garingal, pictured)
* Course of the Year - tied between Rushcutters Bay (Sue Froude) and St Ives Bungaree (Richard Pattison)
* SSS Special Award - Carol Jacobson (Garingal) for her years of setting, organising, mapping, results processing, mentoring, helper roster compilation and much more.

With the start for our 19th and final event high up in St Leonards Park by North Sydney Oval - arguably the prettiest sportsground in Australia - this meant climb at the end of your run and working out the optimal turnaround point in North Sydney, Milsons Point or Kirribilli.

New SSS co-ordinators Tristan and Ian would like to say a massive thank you to all the setters, organisers, controllers, mappers, SI teams, map printers, event volunteers, landowners and participants for their great work in continuing to ensure we run the best street/park series in the world.

Despite numerous hiccups (covid, rain, rain, rain, covid, rain) we can sleep well knowing the SSS has delivered again.
