Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.


2022 NSW Schools Team Announced

Students from eight of our NSW Clubs have been named in the NSW 2022 Schools team for the 2022 Australian Championships in Victoria. 

Orienteering NSW is pleased to announce the 2022 NSW Schools Orienteering Team which will compete at the 2022 Australian Schools Orienteering Championships from September 26-28. The NSW Schools Board of Selectors had enjoyed the task of selecting this years' team. The board of selectors, which is comprised of Toby Wilson, Michele Dawson and chaired by Rob Bennett, was impressed with the quality of the nominees this year, and wants to encourage athletes to continue to nominate and participate in the sport of Orienteering in years to come.

The board of selectors has selected the following athletes in the NSW Schools Team for the NSW Schools Team of 2022:

All selected will travel with the team to Victoria and run in the three schools championship events from September 26-28 (Sprint, Individual and Relay), while also competing in the other major events on both weekends of the carnival. The team will be travelling with the managers and coaches.
