Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

2022 JWOC NSW Team Members

It was extremely tough for the four NSW Junior competing at 2022 JWOC in Portugal. The temperatures hit 40’c most days. With the extreme temperatures and forest fires the Portuguese Government issued a total fire ban on access to all forests for a week. This meant no forest orienteering was allowed.

Once approved by IOF in only four days, the organisers delivered the first ever JWOC Sprint Relay and and unofficial Urban relay. So with the disappointment of the postponement of the middle, long or forest relay they had some competitions.

Congratulations to our NSW Juniors Nea, Erika, Ewan and Sam for their great results in their first JWOC.

New dates will be released in the coming weeks for the 2022 JWOC middle, long and forest relays. At this stage it’s looking like early November, 2022.

JWOC Results:

Sprint

Nea 46th 17.36

Erika 67th 18.44

Sam 58th 16.09

Ewan 88th 17.11
