Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.


NSW Coaches Workshop All levels

Date: Sunday, 14th May from 9am.

This Sunday, 9 registered so far and it is going ahead.

Venue: Room 1.05, ACPE, 10 Parkview Drive, SOP.  

Main presenter Brodie Nankervis 
Aimed at those looking to become or maintain "Learn & Play" orienteering coaching accreditation (corresponding to the former Level 1 Coach)
Lunch provided. Parking included.
Fee $30 per attendee, clubs are asked to support the coaches. 

Coach Training Workshop
There has been changes made in the OA coaching curriculum; previously coaches commenced as Level 0, and then were accredited as Level 1, 2 or 3, now they are initially “Orienteering Instructors”, before becoming classed as “Learn and Play”, “Competition” or “Performance” Orienteering Coaches.

Target Group
a) Current Learn & Play Coaches wanting to maintain their accreditation.
b) Current Orienteering Instructors wanting to progress to Learn & Play.
c) Any orienteer interested in becoming a coach.
d) Teachers who are interested in learning how to coach & instruct orienteering activities.
