Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Meet your Board member - Justin from Newcastle club

This is the latest in our series introducing you to the dedicated individuals who manage our sport in NSW.

Name: Justin Stafford (NCN). Joined the Board: April 2024.

Justin is an avid and moderately competitive orienteer and the newly appointed president of NCN. He actively participates in NCN bush and street series, as well as CCN, state and national events along with his family of four.  He sets for NCN and CCN.

In his professional life, Justin is the CEO and Co-Founder of Blueshift, a tech company that has grown significantly over the past 20+ years, now employing over 40 staff.

Beyond the world of technology and orienteering, Justin has a strong commitment to community service. He has served on various boards within the SDA church, including two 4-year terms on the NNSW Conference which has a turnover of $20M. Currently, he is the chair of the ADRA Op Shop in Morisset, leading a dedicated team of 160 volunteers and managing a turnover of $1.2M. Additionally, Justin is an active board member of the SDA NNSW Aged Care.

Justin joined the board to contribute more effectively to the development and governance of orienteering in the region and is looking forward to working with the team.
