Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Central Coast event at Yamba excellent preparation for Coalfields Classic

Hungry for more orienteering or keen for some final training before the Coalfields Classic? Central Coast Orienteers are holding a Bush event near Morriset on 6 May on their 'Yambo' map. With courses from Very Easy, Moderate, Hard and Very Hard to choose from there is something for everyone to sharpen up their technique before the big races in Newcastle on the 12 & 13 May.

Please check the location - there has been a problem with the map loaded on the ONSW website. The correct map link is here. These directions will also get you there:

Directions from Sydney: Exit F3 freeway at Tuggerah and turn left into Old Maitland Road follow this to a T junction, turn right onto Yarramalong Rd and then left into Hue Hue Road. Take the first turn left into Jilliby Road. Follow this for 10kms and turn right into Mandalong Road at the intersection before Dooralong Hall. Follow this for 6kms (mainly dirt) to parking, assembly area.
Directions from Newcastle: Take the Morisset exit from F3 turn right into Mandalong Road and follow this to the top of the hill to parking, assembly.

Starts are from 9.30 to 11.30am
