Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

NSW Stingers welcomes Endura

Endura Sports Nutrition has come on board as sponsor of the Stingers, our elite orienteers that represent NSW.   Endura is a world leader in Sports Nutrition providing sport supplements to help athletes get the best out of their performance in both training and racing and Orienteering NSW is very excited to have them join us in our bid to produce the best orienteers in Australia.

In early January a number of NSW Stingers represented Australia in the World Cup events in New Zealand.  Congratulations to Julian Dent, Felicity Brown, Joshua Blatchford and Rob Preston who all represented Australia in style.  Based on some great results at this international competition, the Endura Stinger of the month for January is Felicity Brown.  Not only was this Felicity’s first appearance at this level for the Australian team but she also produced the goods, performing consistently with top 30 performances in every race in world class fields.

Thanks to Stingers sponsor, Endura, there is a prize pack now winging its way to Felicity (who has already returned to Sweden for more training).  With Endura products aiming to ‘help you train harder, race faster and recover quicker’ we know that she will be racing even faster at the next round of World Cup events.

Congratulations also to other NSW Stingers that performed strongly in elite classes in the Oceania Carnival.  Athletes included Aidan Dawson, Lawrence Jones, Matthew Hill, Kas Gregory, Eric Morris, Andrew Brown, Ian Meyer, Nicola Blatchford, Michele Dawson and Emily Prudhoe.  We also had good results in the following events at Hawkes Bay with Lisa Grant impressing in the Sprint the Bay competition.
