Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

ONSW and NSW Rogaining team up for spectacular Minigaine

Orienteering NSW has joined forces with the NSW Rogaining Association for the “Spectacular Sydney Harbour SSS-Minigaine” and entries are now open.  This increasingly popular 3 hour event is on Sunday 3 March at Mosman High School, with rolling starts from 1pm to 3pm.

Two orienteering maps have been combined to give a mix of street and bushland navigation, featuring Sydney’s scenic harbour foreshore around Mosman and Cremorne. Scores count in the Sydney Summer Series (this is SSS23), but only if you enter as an individual.  You get quadruple the time of a normal 45-minute SSS event and 4 times the fun.

As over 500 entrants are expected, many without a personal SI Stick, NSWRA’s Navlight recording system will be used.  The entry fee covers rental of a Navlight punch tag.

Entry Fees are Full $20; Concession $15; Child under 14 years $free, provided you enter on or before Wednesday 27 February.  Entries can be made after 27 February and on-the-day, but will incur a $10 additional charge (to minimise queuing).  So get in early.

Entries can be made on-line at www.nswrogaining.org/AboutEvents/Events/13MI/13MI.htm.
