Learn to Orienteer - Port Macquarie

Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Xmas 5-days entries are open

We know you've been waiting patiently, and we're pleased to announce that entries are now open for our annual end-of-year carnival - to be held for the first time in the Sydney metro area.

Georges Heights, Cockatoo Island, Pyrmont, Lapstone and Centennial Park are our stunning event locations. Along with our Xmas bush regulars, we'd love to see lots of the summer series crowd join in - you can enter the lot, or whichever days take your fancy.

For 2014, with the except of Day 4 (Lapstone) the Xmas 5-Days takes on a distinctly urban feel. Full details are on the flyer, and entries via EventorDay 3 at Pyrmont (see pic) will also count towards the Sydney Summer Series.

We have random prize draws for October, November and December thanks to our generous donors. Pre-entry is strongly recommended as we will have only a limited number of EOD maps available.

We anticipate several tour groups from Europe en route to Tasmania the following week for the World Cup round, not to mention the Oceania championships being held in conjunction.

We are still confirming the exact location of the last day, which is an ultra sprint somewhere within Centennial Parklands. To find out more about this exciting micro version of orienteering, read the flyer.

Entries close December 14. More information is available on the Xmas 5-Days web page. Tell your friends. All events are easily reached by public transport and offer great sightseeing opportunities.
