Welcome to Orienteering NSW

Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It's also loads of fun!

The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.

Events are conducted weekly across NSW and beginners are welcome at all events.

New to orienteering? Click here for more information.

Want to enter an event? You can see what's on by looking at the Coming Events at left or by going to the Event Calendar. Some events are enter on the day - you just turn up and register at the start. Other events require pre-entry and for that you need to know about (and register with) Eventor - read the Eventor FAQ.

Metro League 2022 Wrap

Big Foot claimed an unprecedented hat-trick by taking out the top three divisions as the 2022 Metro League season concluded at a very wet Galston.

The Feet beat Garingal 30-25 in Division 1, pipped Bennelong 28-27 in Division two and knocked over Bennelong 35-20 in Division 3.

Bennelong were not to be outdone though, easily accounting for Garingal 34-21 in Division 4 and WHO 27-22 in Division 5.

The conditions for Sunday's finals were bizarre: the 'feels like' temp was in single digits for most of the morning, yet you needed sunscreen after the skies cleared following 50mm of rain overnight.

That meant flooded streams, boggy conditions and lots of tiny leeches.

In Division 6, Garingal Blue Tongues had already secured before the last round robin contest with SHOO-IKO which they won 23-22.

Congratulations also to the individual medal winners for 2022:

Div 1 - James McQuillan, Div 2 - Nick Stanley, Div 3 - Miles Ellis

Div 4 - Bob Morgan and Ian Jessup, Div 5 - Samuel Tsang and Div 6 - Steph Nicholls

A big thank you to all the setters, controllers, organisers, club captains and participants for another successful season.
