SHOO Summer is drawing to a close

Participants were yet again treated to a great family friendly event at Camden this weekend. With a start set in a riverside park with a children's playground, BBQs and plenty of space to run around there was a lot to enjoy.
The score course took in multiple parks and reserves up and down the river, with some short forays into the quiet surrounding streets. The Easy course took the juniors right past the playground so it was a wonder any completed the run, but competition leader Jai Cooper ran down the controls in a resolute fashion to win this event in 12.25.
The last event in this series is on 11th February at Camden Town Farm.
Glenn Horrocks solves all the puzzles at Sydney West Series #3

Planner Ross Duker was worried about vandalism and expensive SI units disappearing overnight at the latest Sydney West Series at UWS Kingswood. His discreet positioning of the controls meant that runners really had to work for their points and there was a lot of discussion over control positioning and route choices at the finish. This didn't prevent Glenn Horrocks from turning in a magnificent result, with a perfect 600 points only being denied him by a time penalty of a fraction of a minute.
Entries now open for State League races at Snow Hills 24/25 March

Big Foot Orienteers are the host club for the first State League races this year, and they have got off to a flying start by opening the online entries already. Planners Mark Shingler and Greg Barbour promise terrain which delivers 'mostly good running in gully spur plus some gold-mining. Open eucalypt forests with some areas of low visibility cypress pine. There are some steeper slopes but most of the map is gently undulating terrain. The gold mining has "canyon" like features , with steep cuttings and few exits and entries'. Sounds like fun! DuO Adventure Series - online entry deadline extended until tomorrow

The DuO Adventure Series this weekend has extended its online entry deadline to cope with a last minute rush from the adventure racing community.
Canny marketing by the team has seen recent bulletins going out to the adventure racing community, in particular through Max Adventure which hosts the Kathmandu Adventure Series, the Tough Bloke Challenge and the Urban Max. In order to make sure everyone can have a chance to race the deadline has been extended to 6pm on the 9th February. There will be limited entries on the day too but to be sure of your spot, online entry is your best option.
With entries already up by 60% on the first event at Killingworth this is shaping up to provide racers with some serious competition - come and join in the fun!
