Women's training weekend heads to Lithgow
- Last Updated: Tuesday, 11 February 2020 13:09
The Women's Navigation Skills Weekend is an annual camp for women to build their navigation skills in a supportive environment.
It's for women of all ages who:
* wish to make the jump from street and park events to bush orienteering
* are keen to learn or improve their off-track navigation and orienteering skills
* are experienced in the bush but wish to brush up on some skills or get in some practice before the winter season
Entries for the 2020 weekend, to be held near Lithgow on March 7-8, are now open.
Information is available here. We recommend booking early as this weekend always sells out and generates a lot of interest from women outside orienteering.
It's great networking, great camaraderie and a lot of fun. Thanks to our partner Bold Horizons for putting this on again.

Orienteering NSW is continuing the Active Kids Rebate program in partnership with the NSW government.
This scheme provides two $100 vouchers to parents/guardians of school-enrolled children. They can be used for registration and participation costs for sport and fitness activities.
Students who choose orienteering as a sport have two options for their 2020 voucher:
* entry to 15 local events (inc SI stick hire if required)
* entry to 10 SOS events (inc SI stick hire if required)
Please note you must be a member of ONSW to claim, and the above options cannot be mixed.
You can claim one voucher for all of 2020, and the second one from July 1.
For further information, see the NSW government fact sheet and the ONSW information sheet.
NSW-ACT training weekend on Feb 21-23
- Last Updated: Friday, 07 February 2020 16:47
Come and enjoy a fun weekend of orienteering training in the Southern Highlands on February 21-23.
This camp is being put on by our coach-in-residence Alastair George along with ACT counterpart Fryderyk Pryjma.
Everyone is welcome to attend. The camp will focus on the development of sprint and bush orienteering skills in preparation for the autumn season. The bush orienteering trainings will offer hard and easy courses - moderate level orienteers are encouraged to challenge themselves on the hard courses.
More details are in the information flyer. Please register on Eventor by Sunday 16 February.
Due to the bushfires, we are still awaiting final confirmation of locations, which will be roughly 1 hour 40 minutes from Canberra and Sydney.

Melissa Robertson and Mark Schaefer have taken out the Central Coast summer series after the final event on a new map at Forresters Beach on Sunday.
Melissa bagged a perfect 600 from her six best scores, while Mark finished with 598 points.
There was again a separate table based on handicaps, and Garingal's Elizabeth Bulman tied with Suzanne Bramford (CC). The men's section went to Lachlan Harris (CC).
You can find the final tallies here and the results page here.
A big thank you to all the mappers, setters, controllers and organisers.
Central Coast's next event is the annual O'Shea 2-Days weekend on Feb 29-Mar 1. Details are in Eventor. This features three runs in 18 hours. Cake prizes are for the best-performed pairs, but you can also enter solo, and for 1, 2 or all 3 events.
