MetrO League kicked off for 2025 with a bumper turnout under a warm sun at gorgeous Centennial Park on Sunday.

A record pre-entry of almost 200 had Uringa scurrying for more maps as we explored the often-unused south-western corner where duneland controls took careful finding.

Most courses had a long leg or two, with the tiny bridges over the channels the key to the shortest route.

It was a day for the runners with very little climb, but the vagueness of the landscape soon punished the careless.

In the first schools match-up in living memory in ML, the Garingal Falcons edged out the KNOX second team 28-26 in Division 6.

It was terrific to see so many kids taking to the line courses and enjoying being part of a club team.

Round 2 is at Yerambah Lagoon on May 4
