Whilst a lot of focus for Aussies in Europe is on Oringen, there are a number of smaller events also taking place.
One is the Bavarian Forest 5 Days and a small group of 10 Australians are competing, 4 from NSW.
Overall placings - Deb Davey 5th W65, Robyn Pallas 16th W70, Alex Davey 23rd M65 and Colin Price 26th M70
Days 1 and 2 were actually held just across the Czech border at the ski centre of Kubova Hut. The forest here was a bit knarly, with lots of fallen timber and uneven ground, making running slow in places. Waggaroos Deb Davey (W65A) was the best NSW performer with 4th on the long course on Day 1, then 5th on day 2 middle. Victorian Ted van Geldermalsen was the best Aussie with a 2nd and 5th in M70A.
On day 3, we moved back to Bavaria to another ski resort at Almberg. The forest here is much nicer, soft underfoot with less fallen timber, but also a lot wetter, so wet shoes! Deb again led the way with 3rd place to move up to 4th overall. Alex Davey improved on his first 2 days to place 25th in a big M65A class. Central Coasts Colin Price was 28th in M70A and Robyn Pallas 16th in W70A.
Day 4 was in the same area as day 3 for a middle-distance race. Deb Davey again was best of the NSW contingent in 5th place.
The final day Sprint was held on the town of Grafenua and Deb Davey capped a great event by winning W65A. Deb was 5th overall.
