ONSW will be sending a NSW Schools Team to the 2025 Australian Schools Orienteering Championships (ASOC) to be held in and around Brisbane, Qld on 30 September-2 October 2025. The team will consist of a maximum of 20 athletes, with a maximum of 6 athletes permitted in any of the four classes. The four classes are Junior Boys and Girls (athletes aged 12 to 15 on December 31, 2025) and Senior Boys and Girls (athletes 19 and under on 31 December 2025). We expect positions within the team to be highly contested.
The new NSW Schools Team Selection policy can be found on the ONSW website at https://www.onsw.asn.au/resources/onsw-manual (scroll down to 8.5 NSW Schools Team Selection). The policy has been developed to provide certainty regarding team selection, and in particular selection events and team composition.
In 2025, KBIII and therefore Primary Selection Events will be:
Saturday 7 June – State League #7 - Middle Distance at Kahli’s Rocks (about 20km west of Bathurst);
Sunday 8 June – State League #8 - Long Distance at Kahli’s Rocks; and
Monday 9 June – State League #9 - Sprint at Charles Sturt University Bathurst.

His volunteering to be the new Belanglo Hut manager means the hut is in exceptionally good and capable hands.

You would never know it, but Metro League #1 is happening on this Sunday 13th April.
Having explored the northern sections of the park for the Xmas 5 Days the focus shifts to the southern end of the park with the assembly in Fearnley Grounds. Courses will explore the little used southern end plus the longer courses some legs that will challenge you to choose the best route to the northern sections of the map.
The assembly area is best accessed through the Randwick Gates off Darley Road. This will save you doing the full Grand Drive Circuit. There is parking available in Darley Road. The “Royal Randwick” light rail stop leads you directly into the Ash Paddock which is part of Fearnley Grounds.

It is much preferred if competitors enter via Eventor as there will only be a limited number of maps in each division available for Enter on Day.
Entries close on Saturday night at midnight 12th April. Starts will be:
9.30-10.00 public starters
10.01 – 10.35 Metro Teams
10.35 -11.00 Public Starters
Courses will close at 12.30
Invitation: You are warmly invited to attend our informal April Orienteering Training Camp to be held at Newbridge Recreation Reserve 18th – 27th April, 2025. These dates cover the Australian Easter 3 Days (18th – 21st) and the Victorian Championships (25th – 27th) and the days between, where some training sessions will be held.
Coaching support will be provided across the entire period and social opportunities will abound. This camp is for juniors in Year 6 and above. Activities will include Moderate and Hard navigation. All juniors wishing to attend must be accompanied by their own family for accommodation and transport. Accompanying family members are very welcome to come and participate in all camp coaching and training sessions.
It is not necessary to camp at Newbridge, though that is likely to be a cheap option. It would be handy to be somewhat nearby.
Accommodation and Food: You will need to organise your own accommodation and food. Either with your own family or find a family willing to be your guardian and look after you.
You can attend any part of the camp, or the whole thing. Please let us know by registering on Eventor.

Cost: There will be no cost to attend the camp. Any camp expenses will be paid for by our fundraising.
